Madam Crowl's Ghost and Other Tales of Mystery - Dickon the Devil

In which a gentleman travels to the remote and melancholic Barwyke Hall in Lancashire to settle an inheritance, encountering an old steward and odd tales concerning the late Squire Bowes, a mysterious lake, and a local with a troubled mind known as Dickon the Devil. The visitor experiences strange nocturnal disturbances and hears from his guide the sorrowful accounts surrounding the estate’s past and its uncanny influence on those connected to it.
