Madchester

Madchester is een invloedrijke muzikale en culturele beweging in Manchester die floreert tussen de late jaren '80 en de vroege jaren '90. De scene staat bekend om de unieke fusie van alternatieve rock (indie) met acid house en dance-invloeden. De term word populair door de EP Madchester Rave On van de Happy Mondays en is nauw verbonden met het label Factory Records van Tony Wilson en word getrokken door bands als The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets, The Charlatans 808 State e.a.
