We enter the Kingdom of God via repentance from our sin as we turn to Jesus by faith. Many Christians do not understand that this is the moment of our first repentance, but not our final repentance. The truth for us is that we live a lifestyle of repentance because we learn that so much of what we say, think, and do falls short of God’s holy expectation. What does ongoing repentance look like for the believer? Does guilt have any legitimate place in the life of one who is forgiven? Are we constantly shamed for continually falling short? The Church needs a fresh baptism in what it means to live in contrition, consecration and repentance before the God who loves them. No passage of Scripture unpacks this more effectively for us than David’s words in Psalm 51.
