Madera Supervisor Candidate Legal Troubles & Avenal Council Members Face Recall
from Philip Teresi · host KMJ
Charles “Brook” Allen, 48, was previously incarcerated for vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence in his early 20s and is currently a defendant in two court cases regarding his businesses, one of which involves a misdemeanor charge. Allen is running in the June primary election for the District 5 seat that represents a sprawling portion of eastern Madera County, including Tesoro Viejo, Oakhurst, Coarsegold and other foothill communities. Kings County Superior Court on Thursday denied Avenal’s request for a preliminary injunction, allowing the recall election to proceed as scheduled. The election to recall city council members Leticia Gamez, David Reynosa, Pablo Hernandez and Mayor Alvaro Preciado, is Tuesday. Preciado and Hernandez’s terms expires in November. Gamez and Reynosa’s terms expire in 2028.
