Madison Baseball Coach Mark "Pudge" Gjormand

Coach Pudge Gjormand, legendary baseball coach and owner/GM of MVP Baseball School, entered this month his 29th season as Madison skipper. We take a look back on his remarkable career in this far ranging conversation. Coach Pudge has led the Warhawks to four state championships, including the most recent one in 2023, and was the first Virginia coach to be inducted into the National High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. We discuss the challenges of coaching baseball in today's environment and why Madison baseball and sports, in general, have dominated scholastic competitions over the last two decades. Coach Pudge gives credit to the great role models and thought leaders whose paths he's followed and shares his own wisdom and nuggets for developing players and teams. We also talk about many of the great Madison athletes he's managed, such as Bryce Eldridge, and even get a sneak peek at the '24 Madison Warhawks. it was a pleasure celebrating Coach Pudge's amazing career and his contributions to local baseball.
