Holger Rune came even closer to defeat as he saved a match point before sealing his spot in Round 3 at the expense of Alexander Bublik. In contrast, Daniil Medvedev serenely progressed to the next round after beating Andrea Vavassori. With a kind draw, where he lies in the opposite half to the aforementioned young guns, and will play Alexander Shevchenko next, can he be a threat in Madrid?
