Maeroero - Urn

from Pyramid Club Broadcasting · host PCB

This Track is composed with the intention of exploring the sense of our forest being shared by other worldly entities. Inspired by Māori folklore, specifically maeroero and patupairahe, we used a mixture of taonga pūoro and modular synthesis to try and express the thin veil between forest life and give a sense of paranormal energies/ entities that may, or may not, have existed in the past or even still today. Urn is Thomas Carroll (taonga pūoro) and Rob Awa (modular synthesis) urn is a merging of our common sonic approaches to music to try and encapsulate a unique blend of traditional maori music / with otherworldly synthesis drones/ ambient / textures and samples. With thanks to Creative New Zealand.
