Magnificent Menopause with Amanda Hinman

from Plan Simple with Mia Moran

“Our bodies are truly magnificent and really resilient.” –Amanda HinmanDreading or hating menopause? Feeling it’s all downhill from here? It doesn’t have to be.  I’m talking with Amanda Hinman, a functional medical health consultant, who helps women optimize health by balancing hormones naturally. You can write a different story for your health later in life. One of the problems we face is our doctors don’t always talk about the hormonal changes we are experiencing. And even if they do, they are often compartmentalized—even though they interact within our bodies. We need more information. That means more testing and somebody who understands how to read those tests to get at the root cause. We talk about: The 6 major hormones that change in menopause, not just the ones we are used to hearing aboutHow these hormones interact and influence each otherBecoming an empowered health leader for yourselfSurprising results, like how eating healthy may not be working you if you look at what your body is actually taking inThe importance the experience of eating almost as much as what you eatLearning to appreciate your body being a key step to health changesABOUT AMANDAApplied Functional Medicine Certified and Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Amanda Hinman used to feel exhausted and overwhelmed while struggling with an auto-immune condition. Life circumstances shaped her mission, to empower women to be in the driver’s seat of their health when her family was faced with multiple health crises and was able to overcome them against professional medical expectations.    Amanda specializes in helping successful women between the ages of 40-60 who are struggling with hormone imbalance and exhaustion to heal naturally and gain 3 hours of energy every day so they can maximize their impact on their careers and family.Amanda founded a functional medicine company called the Hinman Holistic Health Institute and together she and her team have helped 100’s of women reclaim their health from the terrors of Hashimoto’s, hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, anxiety, PCOS, pituitary tumors, and more.LINKSInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/hinmanamanda/Hormone Assessment: https://www.hinmanholistic.com/hormone-health-kitWebsite: www.hinmanholistic.comDOABLE CHANGESAt the end of every episode, we share three doable changes, so you can take what you've heard and put it into action. Change comes from action. Doable changes are things that you can add into your life, one at a time to make micro shifts and really create a ripple effect that will create a big change over time. Choose one that really piques your interest and roll with it. Here are three Doable Changes from this conversation:APPRECIATE YOUR BODY. Appreciating your body is a great starting point to make decisions and choices about your health. Think about how amazing it is that your body does what it does. Instead of focusing on what you don’t like, notice that your body and its systems are amazing.UPGRADE YOUR EATING. Instead of eating at your desk or rushing through a meal you just stressed about  getting on the table, upgrade that experience. Take a break to eat your lunch. Take your breakfast out into the sun. If you can’t destress during making dinner, take a few slow breaths to destress before you start eating.START TAKING CHARGE OF YOUR HEALTH. Instead of being passive, make your doable step taking a small action that puts you in more control of your health.
