It beginswith the general “lay of the land,” including its handy location right between the Twin Cities and EauClaire at the northern edge of Wisconsin’s Driftless Area. They take you through numerous nationallandscape features including the Devil’s Punchbowl, Hoffman Hills, and the beauty of the Red CedarRiver and Lake Menomin along with how the Red Cedar State Trail and other access points allow youfully enjoy them in outdoor endeavors. Downtown, which adjoins the University of Wisconsin-Stout,includes the stunning Mabel Tainter Theater and Center for the Arts, murals, sculptures, shops, andthree breweries: Zymurgy, Lucette, and brewery nønic. For recreation, you can enjoy the river and lakeright in town along places like nearby Woodwind Park, where Tammy relays the story of the couple thathas been resurrecting this recreational playland northeast of the city. Throughout the area, disc golf is aparticularly fast-growing sport and Tammy also discusses several options for playing and learning aboutit. Racing is also popular with Red Cedar Speedway offering exciting – and loud! – action throughout thesummer. Menomonie also has plenty of wonderful restaurants and serves as a center for production ofSwiss Miss cocoa as well as cheese, with a newer Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery opening recentlywhere you can watch production and enjoy Wisconsin’s favorite food.
