Mahima Vasishth on the Role of Media in Judicial Outcomes of Sexual Harassment Cases

In this episode, Shruti talks with Mahima Vasishth about her job market paper, "Local Media Reports About Sexual Crimes and Judicial Outcomes in India." They discuss the effects of media coverage on sexual harassment cases, what factors may be driving increased coverage, whether the gender of local politicians affects case outcomes and much more. Vasishth is a Ph.D. candidate in economics at the University of California, Irvine. Her research interests include labor economics, development economics and public economics, especially the factors that shape women's economic outcomes.
