英國《金融時報》星期一報導，臺灣總統蔡英文已說服美國國會眾議院議長凱文．麥卡錫（House Speaker Kevin McCarthy），把兩人的會晤改在她4月份訪問美國時在加州舉行，而不是臺北，理由是在美中關係持續緊張的情況下，中國對麥卡錫訪臺可能做出的軍事反應會對臺灣的安全不利。然而有觀察人士認為，即便如此，北京還是可能做出激烈回應。
