Mai Tai | Pablo Bolivar

For the last episode in this year’s anniversary month of August we’re happy to add a special treat to the Schirmchendrink menu: A Spanish version of the Mai Tai – mixed by the terrific music producer Pablo Bolivar and consisting of releases on his own label Seven Villas. Born in Santander, Spain, in 1981, Pablo took his first steps into the music business by studying Sound Engineering at Barcelona’s Crash institute. Following this, he worked as a sound engineer for a number of years following his graduation in 1998. After releasing his first LP on Barcelona’s „Regular“, the Spaniard has gone from strength to strength, with further releases on imprints such as Desolat, Culprit, Einmusika and, of course, on his own labels Seven Villas or Avantroots. There is often a deep, mystical feeling locked inside Pablo’s music. He once said that this comes from his homeland, and its grey and rainy days, the beautiful green landscapes and endless summers. And this is beautifully transported through his music, like in his latest work, a co-production with his fellow countryman Squire on Lee Burridge’s TRYBESof. Besides music production, the name Pablo Bolivar also stands for meticulously crafted DJ performances: A combination of his his own mesmerizing Techno cuts with records unearthed from his regular excursions crate digging as well as from other artists he admires.
