In which the genteel folk of Gopher Prairie put a new tailor of artistic, sensitive bearing under the town’s sharp scrutiny, while Mrs Kennicott, caught between sympathy and social caution, discovers unexpected companionship in a young teacher and the misunderstood Erik Valborg.
