Maine ICE Shooting, Superintendent Of Public Instruction, Data Centers & Instructor’s Mid-flight Jump

Guest Host: Terry Slatic & Nick Richardson  A man was fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Biddeford, Maine, on July 13, and lawmakers later said he may not have been the person agents were originally seeking, raising questions about the operation and prompting calls for a full investigation.   California has approved a major restructuring of its education leadership system that will significantly reduce the authority of the elected Superintendent of Public Instruction and transfer many of those responsibilities to a new Education Commissioner appointed by the governor.   Reuters reports that New York has become the first state in the nation to impose a moratorium on large AI-related data centers, pausing new projects that consume 50 megawatts or more of electricity. State leaders say the temporary halt will allow regulators to assess the effects of data centers on energy costs, water resources, and local communities before permitting additional construction.  The flight began as a standard training session from Coronel Olmedo airfield, with Bertazzo having already completed another lesson earlier that day without incident.
