Maine Weather: 02-21-2026

from The Maine Weather Podcast

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Maine Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th. Folks, here's the deal. The County woke up at minus 3 this morning. Meanwhile, the South Coast is sitting at 20 degrees. That's a 23 degree spread across one state. Classic Maine. Let's take a drive. Down along the South Coast, you're at 20 degrees. Sounds almost cozy, right? Don't be fooled. That's still 12 degrees below normal for mid February. Head inland toward the Western Mountains and you'll find the coldest air in the state at 11 degrees. Light northeast winds around 5 miles an hour. Central Maine and Bangor hover in the mid teens. Downeast sits at 18 degrees. Now here's what's interesting. Scattered flurries are possible almost everywhere today. Central Maine and the mountains have the best shot at actually seeing accumulation. The County? Bone dry skies up there. Ironic, since they're the ones freezing hardest. Tonight, lows drop into single digits for most of the state. Up north? 5 to 10 below zero. That's the kind of cold where your nose hairs freeze on contact. Winds stay light, but bundle up if you're heading out. Tomorrow brings a quiet Sunday. Highs in the low 20s with some sunshine. Perfect for a winter walk near Portland Head Light if you layer up properly. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. We're locked into a cold but dry pattern. No big storms lurking. Highs creep toward the upper 20s by midweek, but mornings stay firmly in the teens. Tuesday might bring a dusting from a weak system. Nothing to lose sleep over. One bright spot. We're gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight each day now. Sunrise hit 6:32 this morning. Spring is whispering, even if winter's still shouting. So. If this forecast helped you plan your Saturday, share it with a neighbor. Word of mouth keeps us going. Stay safe out there. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
