Maine Weather: 02-21-2026

from The Maine Weather Podcast

Good evening! I'm DJ Huzz, and welcome to the Maine Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 21st. Folks, enjoy tonight's quiet. Because Monday? A nor'easter is coming, and it means business. Winter Storm Watches are up for Downeast, Bangor, and southern Maine. We're talking heavy snow, dangerous winds, and roads you won't want to be on. But first, here's the deal with right now. Down in Portland, you topped out at 34 degrees today under sunny skies. Tonight you're dropping to 18. Head up to Augusta and Waterville, where highs hit 36 but overnight lows sink to 15. Bangor started at a teeth chattering 10 degrees this morning. Climbed to 36 by afternoon, but by 10 tonight it'll feel like 11. Over Downeast and along the Midcoast, highs reached 34. Lows tonight near 16. Now the cold spots. The Western Mountains only managed 30 degrees today. Overnight? Six degrees. And up in The County? Lows plummet to 2 degrees by 5 A.M. That's the kind of cold where your nostrils freeze shut. Here's what's coming Monday. Downeast and Bangor sit in the bullseye. Eight to twelve inches of snow with gusts hitting 45 miles an hour. Visibility could drop below a quarter mile. Southern and central Maine pick up five to nine inches with serious blowing and drifting. The County and mountains see three to five inches. If you've got Monday plans, start rethinking them tonight. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Tuesday brings a brief break with partly sunny skies and highs in the twenties and thirties. Don't put the shovel away though. Wednesday into Thursday a clipper system rolls through with more snow, possibly mixing with rain down south. Friday warms into the upper thirties. But there's still a chance for showers, because February in Maine doesn't quit easy. One bright spot. We gained nearly three minutes of daylight today. Sunset hit 5:20 this evening. Spring is creeping closer. So. If this forecast helped you prepare, share it with a neighbor. We're all in this one together. Stay safe out there, folks. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
