It was cinematic — very cinematic — for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Thom Latimer defending against Aaron Stevens in what might be the most insane match anyone’s ever seen. They meditated together. They rode a carnival ride. There were masked people dressed very questionably. Suddenly, out of nowhere, they’re in an NWA tag title match — nobody saw that coming. Then they’re fighting on a pirate ship. A pirate ship! Incredible. Some people loved it. Some people hated it. Very polarizing. No middle ground, just like politics.Thom Latimer wins with a crossface — strong finish, very strong — but the real question is: does this kind of spectacle help or hurt pro wrestling?
