Make The Men Sit Down (Part 2)!

INSPIRE Devotionals With Emmanuel Afiawari Saturday, November 29, 2025 Topic: MAKE THE MEN SIT DOWN (Part 2)! Memory Verse: "‭Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you" - 1 Peter 5:7 KJV. Bible Text: John 6:10 KJV 10. And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. INSPIRATION: Jesus's instructions to make the men sit down resonates with our reality today. Many of us are just about everywhere and never sitting down. A few things happen when you sit down. Firstly, it helps you generate productive energy that births new life. Take a local hen for instance. Unless it focuses all her energy and attention in sitting on her eggs, the energy needed to incubate and hatch them into new chickens is never released. When the hen has divided attention, it leaves more eggs wasted than hatched. Secondly, to sit is to brood or move over a thing like the Holy Spirit did at creation to birth a glorious world (Gen. 1: 2). Many of us would rather be moody than brood over a matter. So many people lack the capacity for deep thinking that births solutions. The lack of brooding abilities leave many with cognitive deficiency because the subject under review was never considered in a holistic way. Brooding broadens on views on pertinent issues. Thirdly, to sit, it is to be in meditative mood, where focused thinking occurs so one can arrive at solutions that are well thought through. Many of us are too busy or lazy to meditate, but that's one of God's prescription for a good success (Josh 1:8). We would rather worry than meditate, without realising no amount of worries can add a cubit to our heights (Matt. 6:27). Hence, Peter's advice, "Cast all your care upon him; for he cares for you" (1 Pet 5:7), is very appropriate. TODAY'S TAKE HOME: ‭‭Have you ever wondered why Jesus would ask adults to sit down? Was it merely for food? Methinks there was more to it. You need to find out for yourself the why of that instruction. PRAYER: Dear Lord, I refuse to allow the worries and cares of this life get in my way of sitting down to meditate, of brooding over issues until I generate the right energy to hatch new life from them. Therefore, I align with Your purposes and heed Your command to sit down to be instructed, in Jesus name.
