Make The People Sit Down (Part 3)!

INSPIRE Devotionals With Emmanuel Afiawari Sunday, November 30, 2025 Topic: MAKE THE MEN SIT DOWN (Part 3)! Memory Verse: "‭Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you" - 1 Peter 5:7 KJV. Bible Text: John 6:10 KJV 10. And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. INSPIRATION: Jesus says, "Make the men sit down." By this singular statement, He sought to remind men of their position of authority with him, for which Paul reminds us, "And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus" (Eph. 2:6). When you understand your positioning, to exercise authority becomes effectively easy. Ignorance to your authority mandate robs you of the glories associated with the use of the authority backing your mandate. Sitting with him exposes you to deep truths. In another breath, asking them to sit down was to make them comfortable to receive instructions that matter to their destinies. Luke 10: 39, 42 points us to Jesus's commendation of Mary for sitting at His feet to receive instructions rather than being bothered about many unnecessary things. Until you sit at the right place, you just might get busy with things that could derail your focus. Jesus tells Martha, "One thing is needful...," and obviously, it wasn't part of the choices of the standing men. Any time we see the sitting Jesus, He does so with all the authority of heaven to change lives like He did with the Samaria woman at the well (John 4: 6, 28-30). TODAY'S TAKE HOME: ‭‭Have you ever wondered why Jesus would ask adults to sit down? Was it merely for food? Methinks there was more to it. You need to find out for yourself the why of that instruction. PRAYER: Dear Lord, please help me to know my position and authority with You, and to effectively deploy them. Teach me the discipline to know what is needful and how to pay attention to the right information that matter to my destiny, in Jesus name.
