Making an Amazing Ruckus with Dr. Brian Asbill

from The StressFreeMD Podcast · host Robyn Tiger MD

On this episode, we have a very special guest, Brian Asbill, MD, from Asheville NC!He wears many amazing hats:✅1st ever Board certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician✅Board certified cardiologist✅Medical Director Cardiac Rehab at Mission Health✅Cofounder: Lifestyle Medicine Advancement Group✅Cofounder: Ruckus HealthHe became frustrated because even though his patients were on the right meds and well managed (cholesterol & sugars), they would continue to have cardiac events undergoing stents, bypasses, stented bypasses... Learn how Dr. Asbill had an epiphany after giving a 2nd opinion to a cardiac patient having daily angina requiring nitroglycerin who had been recommended to have a 3rd CABG surgery.  He gave this patient a book by Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn and told the patient to return in 3 months. Within 1 week, after starting a whole foods plant based diet, the patient no longer had angina! In addition, the patient had lowered his cholesterol, blood pressure and weight as well. What happened next? Dr. Asbill underwent his own professional transformation! He became the very 1st certified physician in Lifestyle Medicine to empower patients to care for themselves. He describes the 6 pillars of Lifestyle Medicine,  how he has personally embodied these pillars,  and how he is now "making a ruckus!" after transitioning out of traditional cardiology and into cofounding an innovative lifestyle medicine practice called Ruckus Health. Through Ruckus Health he is able to empower patients to discover their innate ability to live in balance.  As a "disrupter" he is able to focus on changing sick care to health care.Earn CME:Reflect on how this Podcast applies to your day-to-day and earn AMA PRA Category 1 CMEs here:https://earnc.me/TFdjHALinks for Dr. Brian Asbill, Ruckus Health, and Lifestyle Medicine:Ruckus Healthhttps://www.ruckushealth.co/American College of Lifestyle Medicinehttps://www.lifestylemedicine.org/Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/RuckusHealth/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/ruckushealth/LinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/ruckus-health/--------------Links for Dr. Robyn Tiger and StressFreeMD:Register for Rx Inner Peace: A Physician's Guide for Self-Care (25 CME):https://mahec.net/event/65278Physicians: FREE 30 minute Stress Relief Strategy Call:https://go.oncehub.com/StressReliefStrategyCallCheck out StressFreeMD!https://www.stressfreemd.net/ Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/stressfreemd/LinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/robyntigermd/Physicians: join our free private physicians-only Facebook grouphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/thephysiciansselfcarecommunityFree Self-Care Videos:https://www.stressfreemd.net/free-self-care-videosPrivate 1:1 Coachinghttps://www.stressfreemd.net/[email protected] website:https://www.podpage.com/the-stressfreemd-podcast
