Making Covenant
from Island Community Church (Memphis) · host Barrett Bowden
Happy Mother’s Day to all of our mothers, grandmothers, and mothers-to-be! How often do you use the word "covenant?" It's not often used in our culture today. It represents an alliance or agreement between two parties. It involves a great deal of seriousness. In simple, it's a commitment of the strongest sense. Covenants are made in response to something, often to show the deepest form of relational ties and trust between two parties.Today, as we study Nehemiah 9-10, we will see a time of covenant making between God and His people. In light of God’s awesome covenant of salvation, faithfulness and provision, Nehemiah leads his people to make covenant with God and one another as they move to inhabit the restored city of Jerusalem. In light of our amazing salvation through Christ, we should do the same. Nehemiah’s encouragement to God’s people is needed for us today. We're so glad you're here!
