Making Huge Life Changes, part 2

Before I left my day job 25 years ago, Costco wasn't popular and it wasn't the go to store like it is today. There were some food wholesale grocery stores but they were very different. Sure the food was cheap, but it was also picked over, and it was displayed in boxes that they just opened up and put on the floor. It was a depressing place to shop, and it made you feel like you were poor and desperate for a bargain. But I shopped there even though I had a great job and I could afford regular food stores. Why did I put myself through that.   Well, we're talking this week about how to make big changes in your life, and today's tip is that if you're going to make a change that will impact your lifestyle, you need to live as closely to that new lifestyle as possible BEFORE you make the change. For me, I knew I'd be taking a huge pay cut, and that meant that I'd have to shop at these discount food stores. I had to make sure that I could actually DO it. It sounds like a small thing, but I didn't want to hate grocery shopping so much, that it stopped me from pursing comedy.      Action item. . . make a list of the big things that will seriously change when you make a big change, and then try to live them as much as you can. Just saying "oh, I can give up my daily Starbucks latte" is a far cry from actually doing it. And if you find out that you really need that cup of coffee, then you can adjust before you commit to the change. Live the way you are going to live in your new life before your new life starts.   That's it for today. Take care and enjoy your journey.
