Making It Up As We Go Along

Sermon delivered by Rev. Meg Riley on July 8, 2018. Some stories comfort us with familiarity; others surprise us as they evolve before our eyes. Improvisation, which may appear to go "anywhere" is governed by consistent guidelines which allow evolving stories to be strong, focussed and interesting. How could those practices serve us in everyday life? Meg Riley currently serves as Senior Minister of the Church of the Larger Fellowship, a Unitarian Universalist congregation that began as an outreach to UU soldiers in World War II and continues to reach out to farflung UUs, including almost 900 people who are currently incarcerated. Riley has served the movement in a variety of other capacities. She lives in Minneapolis, where she has been studying improv for about 5 years.
