Making Sense of Love Pt. 1 - God's Love Sees Differently
from Crossroads Go · host Crossroads Church
God is love (1 Jn. 4:8). Therefore, God gets to define what it looks, feels, tastes, smells, and sounds like. God’s love sees people differently. God’s love sees us and others differently. Jesus saw Peter differently than he saw himself. Jesus saw Peter as a rock. He saw him as a shepherd despite much evidence that he could not be trusted or relied upon. He was often anything but a rock, but Jesus could see what no one else could. Jesus could see what was to come, who he would become, and spoke that into existence. Matthew 16:18 MSG - 18 Jesus came back, “God bless you, Simon, son of Jonah! You didn’t get that answer out of books or from teachers. My Father in heaven, God himself, let you in on this secret of who I really am. And now I’m going to tell you who you are, really are. You are Peter, a rock. This is the rock on which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out. Choose to see yourself and others through Jesus’ eyes.
