Mamdani Is a Referendum On New York City. Left Unchecked, He’s a Glimpse Into America’s Future.

from The Daily Cheat Sheet · host Marcus Mend Stern, Golan Ramraz, Judah Friedman

We demystify the filibuster and cloture, and explain why nuking the 60-vote threshold is short-sighted, as it could empower tomorrow’s court-packers and gun-banners with a bare majority. We dissect New York City’s result, and lament a self-inflicted collapse driven by activist funding, CAIR’s backing, and a youth turnout shaped by rotten education, boredom and a lack of moral fortitude. We reject the lazy take that this was a Republican referendum, and remind all of you that blue strongholds behave like blue strongholds. As Judah says, quoting Chris Rock, "That tiger didn't go crazy. That tiger went tiger." We highlight the economy as the voter's #1 issue, and fault our side for muddled messaging on Biden-era inflation and the long road back. We call out tribalism that excuses extremism and celebrates "mandates" while businesses and taxpayers race for the exits. We note how defund-the-police and sanctuary cities invite criminals while demoralizing first responders. We explain how foreign-aid talking points are a distraction, so we strip away easy slogans to force real debate. You know... the kind you hardly hear anywhere anymore. We caution that refusing to fight bad ideas locally only invites a forever war at home. Finally, we do what we love to do - we rally our people: gear up, sharpen the message, out-organize and let's make the next vote a reckoning rather than an epitaph!
