Mamluk Architecture

In this episode, we explore the distinctive world of Mamluk architecture, the prestigious building tradition that flourished across Egypt, the Levant, and the Hijaz from 1250 to 1517. Focusing on the monumental patronage of Mamluk sultans in cities such as Cairo, Damascus, and Aleppo, we examine the signature features of the style, including soaring ornate minarets, carved stone domes, ablaq masonry, marble mosaics, and richly decorated multi-functional religious and civic complexes.
