Seit knapp 20 Jahren begleitet das Ehepaar Sandra und Harro Westermeyer (Bild) schwerkranke und sterbende Menschen. Die beiden sind Hospizhelfer im ambulanten Erwachsenenhospizdienst der Malteser in Gräfelfing bei München. Wir haben die Westermeyers besucht und wollten von ihnen wissen, wie vor 20 Jahren alles begonnen hat und welche wertvollen Erfahrungen sie im Lauf der Jahre gesammelt haben. Außerdem sprechen Sandra und Harro Westermeyer darüber, was sie bis zum heutigen Tag motiviert, sich als Malteser Hospizhelfer zu engagieren.
