Man on Trial for Hamas Support at Downing Street | Belfast News

A man named Urslaan Khan stands trial at the Old Bailey for allegedly expressing support for Hamas during a tense moment in the Israel-Gaza conflict. Prosecutors argue that his October 2023 speech outside Downing Street—holding a placard declaring “Hamas is the vanguard of the Resistance”—directly linked him to the proscribed group, especially as he also referenced then-Home Secretary Suella Braverman. Video evidence and social media posts are being used to prove intent, while Khan claims the placard was a quote and downplays the risk of punishment. He has pleaded not guilty, and the trial continues with key testimony scheduled for Thursday, raising urgent questions about free speech and legal boundaries during global crises.
