Man Survives Two Crashes!

from News For Kids · host ICRT

Hi, kids. Today, I have a crazy story to tell you! It might seem like a movie, but it's a true story! This is about a pilot in California. In January this year, he took off. But while he was flying his plane, he had a problem. A big problem! His plane crashed! But he had another very big problem: The pilot crashed right onto some train tracks. And there was a train coming right at him! Luckily there were some police near where the pilot crashed his plane. They pulled the pilot out of his plane. They pulled him out just before the train hit the plane! He was taken to the hospital. But he only had some cuts and bruises, and he was bleeding. That guy was so lucky! But he was basically OK. Wow! He could have been killed when his plane crashed. And he would have been killed if that train hit him! They should make a movie about this lucky guy. I would go see it. It would be so exciting! ________________________________ Vocabulary 這個人實在太幸運,墜機沒有要了他的命,火車也沒有。 1. movie 電影 This guy's story is better than a movie! This Impact Studios production is a collaboration with the Governor family, UTS Faculty of Law and Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research. The Last Outlaws teamKatherine Biber - UTS Law Professor and Chief InvestigatorAunty Loretta Parsley - Great-granddaughter of Jimmy Governor and the Governor Family Historian Leroy Parsons - Governor descendant, Narrator and Co-WriterKaitlyn Sawrey - Host, Writer and Senior ProducerFrank Lopez - Writer, Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
