Managing Caregiver Guilt

from Dementia Careblazers · host Natali Edmonds

In this episode, we are talking about caregiver guilt. I get messages every day from amazing Careblazers who feel so guilty for something they said or something they've done. They might tell me they snapped back at their loved one. They may have lost thier patience with them. They might tell me they had to place their loved one in a care facility. They tell me they have so much guilt. In this episode, I want to talk about what to do when that guilt creeps up. We will talk specifically about where guilt comes from and also whay you can do to work through the guilt.  I'm going to use the example of putting a loved one in a care facility to guide us through becaue that's a big one I hear a lot and a lot of dementia Careblazers will relate to. __________________________________________ 0:43: What actually causes guilt 1:56: How to start managing your guilt 2:57: The thing making caregiving even more difficult and will never help. 3:16: How to move forward 5:15: Real life example 8:53: Link to Guidepost article that recently interviewed me: https://guideposts.org/positive-living/health-and-wellness/caregiving/how-to-avoid-getting-mired-in-caregiver-guilt/ To learn more about Dementia Careblazers and how to get access to more personalized support go to www.careblazers.com

You will be challenged, like I was, to RETHINK what it means to be healthy. This podcast is hosted by Sande Bargeron, PhD, who, after years in the medical field, was forced to re-examine foundational health and the meaning of healing. After dealing with personal autoimmune issues, losing a family member to dementia, struggling with kids who had ADHD and a child with chronic neurological Lyme Disease, she learned that protecting the brain was a highly overlooked aspect of human health.
