Managing Hypertension in the Elderly

Chutka, M.D. (@ChutkaMD) It’s estimated that over 70% of those 65 and older have hypertension and there’s good evidence to show that less than half of these elderly individuals are adequately controlled. While there are many similarities between hypertension in the elderly and the general population, there are also some important differences. The elderly are more likely to have systolic hypertension, take multiple medications and they’re more likely to experience more frequent and serious adverse drug reactions.
