This video is a part of our Pain Series. In this video, Drs. William Zempsky, Amanda Brandow, and Patricia Kavanagh outline major challenges in the treatment of sickle cell disease and the management of associated pain symptoms. They contrast the differences between acute and chronic pain associated with sickle cell disease and apply understandings of the disease in the context of case studies. The Pain Series is funded through the generosity of the MAYDAY Fund, which has, over the years, supported investigators and projects that have dramatically improved the pain management of children throughout the world.
