In which we receive a long and earnest letter from Edmund, whose reflections and uncertainties about his future provide a candid insight into the complexities of affection and societal expectations. We then encounter the anxious and prolonging correspondence concerning the serious illness of Tom, whose condition draws out the emotional states and distant relations of those connected to Mansfield Park.
