Manipulation and Mercy

A sermon given on Family Worship Sunday, March 20, 2022 by Jake Blackwood on 1 Corinthians 6:1-8. "Serious Disputes and Conflicts Within the Church. While this passage may seem to focus on legal proceedings, Paul points to a larger concept of using our power and resources to manipulate others. We as Christians ought never use “levers of power over a friend, husband, wife, parent or child.” (Thiselton p.92) We should seek to mediate, instead of confront. Courts of law ought to be an absolute last resort, since the Gospel enables Forgiveness, Mercy and Grace by the power of the Holy Spirit in us."
