In these days of multitasking, there is no better expert than today’s guest on the Alumni Podcast, Manon Perron.  Manon has master it all, from being a skater, local/national and Olympic coach, team leader, mentor, and now as a Skate Canada Advisor to the High Performance Program.  Her energy and passion for the sport and for developing skaters’ skills beyond the ice, and her contributions to high performance are immeasurable.  Manon and Alumni Chair Debbi Wilkes caught up recently to talk about Manon’s incredible career and her continuing dedication to skating in Canada.

Wayne Gretzky Wayne Gretzky was hailed as the best player in the history of the National Hockey League and was acclaimed by legions of sportswriters, other players, and the NHL itself as "the greatest hockey player who ever lived." Sports fans affectionately dubbed him "The Great One" and "The Great Gretzky." Upon his retirement on April 18, 1999, he held forty regular season scoring records, fifteen playoff records, and six All-Star records. He is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in a season – a feat he accomplished four times. All the teams in the National Hockey League have retired Gretzky's jersey number, 99. Raised in Ontario, Canada, he honed his skills at a backyard rink and played minor hockey at a level far above his peers. His father, Walter Gretzky, taught his son Wayne, during hockey drills and gave him the advice "skate to where the puck's going, not where it's been." Wayne was a classic sports prodigy with extraordinary skills. Website: https://www.innovation.ca Make A Scene Canada Make A Scene Canada Join Cherelle and explore the songs and stories of our talented Canadian artists and music industry leaders.  Cherelle digs deep, the interviews are very conversational and she has a fun-loving way of getting artists to open up about their musical journey.Cherelle is quoted as saying, "Make a Scene started out with my husband Marc Gladstone (Prism) and I lamenting about the state of the music scene in Vancouver, and how hard it is to get people out of their homes and into the venues. So we started a Facebook page for artists to post their upcoming gigs. We wanted to kick start the local music scene, you know, when you build it, they will come. Within no time people started joining the page and promoting their shows"... and music lovers started coming out in droves! Cherelle was so inspired by the success, that she created a radio show, "Make a Scene Canada" which was picked up by Pacific Northwest Radio. From Colin James to Jeff Martin (Tea Party), Jane Siberry to Todd Kerns, Make Cook with Kurt! Canada's National Arts Centre Join Chef Kurt Waldele of the National Arts Centre as he prepares recipes from the NAC's Le Café. In addition to his responsibilities at the NAC, Chef Kurt was responsible for catering services at the National Gallery of Canada. He oversaw food preparation and service at 24 Sussex between 1984 and 1993, and also assumed those responsibilities for many major Government of Canada functions, including the 1981 and 1988 economic summits, several royal visits, and the state dinner for the opening of Expo 1986 in Vancouver.
