Many Dwelling Places

Some verses arrive already carrying history. John 14:6 is one of them: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” For many Christians, those words are comfort. For many queer people, they were turned into a lock. In this episode, I return to the passage that was weaponized against me by evangelical and conservative “Christian” culture. I read it in context: not as a border wall, but as words spoken by Jesus to frightened friends in an upper room, after the foot washing and before the cross. The Father’s house has many dwelling places. That matters when churches, families, and entire movements have told people there was no room for them. The Gospel does not belong to those who used it to exclude. It belongs to the one who prepared the room. This week, we reclaim the passage from the people who turned it into a weapon.
