Many Members, One Body

from Longsuffering on SermonAudio Hosted by Robb Brunansky

What does it truly mean to be part of the body of Christ? Is the church simply a place where Christians gather to worship, hear preaching, and receive spiritual encouragement, or has God designed it to be something far greater? In this sermon from 1 Corinthians 12:14–26, Pastor Robb Brunansky examines the Apostle Paul's powerful illustration of the church as one body with many members. While every believer has different gifts, responsibilities, and opportunities for service, each has been intentionally placed within the body of Christ according to God's perfect wisdom. Through this passage, we discover three essential truths about the members of Christ's body: every member is included, every member is indispensable, and every member is interdependent. No Christian is insignificant, no spiritual gift is unnecessary, and no believer is designed to function independently of the rest of the church. Pastor Robb challenges believers to move beyond a consumer-oriented view of church and embrace their God-given responsibility to serve, encourage, and care for one another. When one member suffers, the entire body suffers; when one member is honored, the entire body rejoices. Listen as we consider how understanding our place in the body of Christ transforms our relationships, strengthens our fellowship, and equips the church to accomplish the mission God has entrusted to His people.
