Marcia Kimpton

Marcia Kimpton is an award-winning independent filmmaker, writer, director, producer, actress, and travel storyteller. The daughter of the late Bill Kimpton, founder of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, she has built a distinguished career outside the traditional studio system by creating self-funded, location-driven films that blend comedy, cultural exploration, and personal insight.In recent years, her most significant achievement has been the 2025 feature film An American Abroad. She wrote, directed, produced, and starred in this globe-trotting romantic comedy, which was filmed across multiple countries including Greece, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, Turkey, and South Africa. The mockumentary-style film follows a free-spirited travel host navigating relationships and cultural encounters, and it has been widely described as a love letter to wanderlust.The film earned Kimpton the Best Actress award at the Croatian International Film Festival and has achieved broad distribution.
