Margin, Week 4: Moral Margin

Margin:  The amount available beyond what is necessary.   Margin:  Putting distance between you and temptation. (James 1:13-14) When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.   (James 1:15) Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.   (1 Corinthians 6:18-20) Flee from sexual immorality… flee: pheugo (fyoo'-go); to run away; to shun; to escape, to distance oneself.   (1 Corinthians 6:18-20) …All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.   (Ephesians 5:3) But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality…   8 WAYS TO FLEE:   ·      DRESS FOR SPIRITUAL SUCCESS. ·      KEEP FOUR FEET ON THE FLOOR. ·      NO SLEEPOVERS OR PLAYING HOUSE. ·      NO TONSIL HOCKEY. ·      AVOID DANGEROUS PLACES. ·      MONITOR INTERNET ACTIVITY.   ·      AVOID TIME ALONE WITH THE WRONG PEOPLE. ·      GUARD YOUR EYES, MIND, AND HEART. (Romans 6:12-14) Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.
