Mari Frank Interviews Tammie Carroll, Reformed Identity Thief and Meth Addict

from KUCI: Privacy Piracy · host Mari Frank

Tammie Carroll, a Colorado resident, is a recovering drug addict and the mother of 4 children. Three of the children are living with her and the fourth was adopted out due to her drug addiction and the crimes she committed. She has been clean from drugs and crime since Jan 8, 2003. She became addicted to methamphetamine after an abusive relationship. The drug addictions led her to places and do things that she never thought she would go or do. She started stealing from others to provide for her children and to support her drug habit. She became involved with cashing counterfeit checks and stealing mail. She would create new check using the routing number and account number of checks she had stole in the mail. After she figured out just how easy it was that was to steal identities and money the identity theft became an addiction all in itself. Tammie was indicted by a grand jury with a group of people on many different charges and sentenced to Peer 1 where her life was saved. Tammie is currently still serving her sentence and paying back the money.
