Mariners Crushed by Blue Jays 8-1 | Spokane News

The Mariners’ hopes for a comeback were crushed in a brutal 8-1 loss to the Blue Jays, thanks to a shaky start by Emerson Hancock and a dominant performance by Cy Young contender Dylan Cease. Dominic Canzone’s solo homer was the only bright spot in a night that saw Toronto’s offense click early — including a key RBI from Vlad Guerrero Jr. — while Hancock struggled with discomfort and gave up five runs in five innings. Meanwhile, manager Dan Wilson made a surprising move: sending pitcher Bryce Miller to the bullpen for a short-term reset. It’s a bold pivot for a team trying to turn things around — and fans will be watching closely to see if it pays off.
