On one hand he was likely pleased that the people were happy to welcome him. He probably recognized many of the people and genuinely felt welcomed. On the other hand, Jesus, who knew the thoughts of the Pharisees, knew the depth of their faith and that most likely he knew they still did not fully understand his Messiahship. I am reminded of a parable found in Matthew 13:20 where Jesus talks about the Sower who sowed some of his seeds on rocky soil. The seed sown on rocky ground is the one who hears the word and receives it at once with joy. But he has no root and last only for a time Jesus knew the people had their heart in the right place but their faith hasn’t had a chance to mature and develop roots. Complete our 1 Minute Survey
