Christ came for the sick. *4 Sections* I. Jesus Heals a paralytic v.1-12 - Capernaum - home town in Galilee - coastal towns. KEY - v.10 - But that you may know the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins x. 1:38 - that is why I came out. II. Calls Levi - aramaic v.13-17 (Matthew in Greek) - many tax collectors and sinners III. Questions on Fasting - Bridge-groom - time to feast! - Time to fast when bridegroom taken away- then they will fast - new wine in new wineskins - new reason and purpose to fasting - waiting for the Bridegroom IV. Sabbath - Sabbath laws - David in need - Sabbath for man, not man for sabbath - refresh and restore - Son of Man Lord even of Sabbath Truth - Son of Man has authority for forgiveness of sins, he came for sinners. Bridegroom. Lord of the Sabbath. Application - If you're a sinner, sick in your soul - Christ came for you.
