I had an awesome conversation with RCMP Officer Mark Bouchard. Mark and I get into his book "Setting My Sights On Stigma" and do a deep dive on culture, sleep, creating boundaries, and priorities and so much more!!!! We also discuss the trauma and shame often felt by not "taking the shot" . I developed this passion after sustaining my own psychological injury, as I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2015. Since then, I have spent years working on healing myself. Now my goal is to help other first responders, by reducing mental health stigma, and by teaching what has helped me to heal.I have 17 years of experience in policing, with the Delta Police Department, and the RCMP. I have 10 years of experience in tactical policing, with two different Emergency Response Teams (SWAT), along with a decade as a tactical medic with an advanced care scope of practice. In 2024, I received a promotion into the RCMP’s National Tactical Medicine Program.I also have many years experience on multiple peer support teams. I have completed a master’s degree in leadership with a research focus on police culture and the impacts on police officer mental health.
