He was at the heart of our rise to the top flight in ‘79 and was a rock at the back in our formative years at England’s top football table. After shining with his dazzling breaks from the back as a roving central defender in his time at The Goldstone he stepped on to even greater heights, winning the very best club trophies available with the Titans that were Liverpool FC, forming a formidable partnership with Alan Hansen.
