Small's pieces have placed in several international composition competitions and been recorded by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. His arrangement of Pat Metheny's "Letter from Home" was included by the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet on their Grammy-winning album Guitar Heroes. In addition to his musical pursuits, Small is a regular contributor to a range of guitar magazines and the managing editor of Berklee Today.
