Mark Thomas: Committee for Auckland Director on the results of the latest State of the City report

A mixed bag for Auckland in the latest State of the City report.  The annual report —as measured by the independent non-partisan platform Committee for Auckland— compares Auckland to other cities around the world.   Our biggest city scored well on innovation, international business events, and the number of people coming here.   It did less well on productivity, keeping talent and tech starts ups on shore, and is in the bottom 10% when it comes to transport emissions.   Committee Director Mark Thomas told Mike Hosking if we want to improve, the Government needs to move a lot quicker.  He says it took a year to get a tech institute underway in Auckland, and if we want to try and match our peer cities around the world, we have to do a better and faster job.  LISTEN ABOVE  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
