Before semi-retiring, he had a three-decade career as an environmental scientist, during which period he wrote and published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in technical journals and was elected Fellow of the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology. He served on the faculty at Harvard and was a Research Staff Member at IBM's Thomas J.
