The Spiral of Progress Proverbs 9:9“Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.” Proverbs 9:9There are seasons when we feel stuck, even though we’re doing the work. We’re showing up, staying faithful, and giving our best, but the results we expect haven’t materialized yet. That’s when self-doubt creeps in. Slowly at first, then all at once. I’ve asked myself more than once, “What am I even doing?” And if I’m honest, I’ve sometimes questioned if my effort was making any difference. But that’s often the exact moment when God reminds me: what feels like going in circles is a quiet elevation. An upward spiral that happens to look like a loop from where I’m standing. In the Curiosity Chronicle newsletter, writer Sahil Bloom quoted Hermann Hesse and wrote: “We are not going in circles, we are going upwards. The path is a spiral; we have already climbed many steps… The spiral appears to be a circle to the one standing on it. But zoom out, and you see the reality: each circle exists on a slightly higher plane than the last. Sahil then described the quiet evidence of progress—those minor signs of spiritual maturity:1—You stop chasing the approval of others.2—You set boundaries that once felt impossible.3—You stop complaining and start taking ownership.4—You cringe (in a good way) at who you were six months ago.5—You lean into the discomfort of being a beginner again. In that moment, it clicked: I’m not stuck. I’ve grown.“Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still…” Proverbs 9:9This verse reminds us that growth is often a subtle process. The wise aren’t satisfied with maintaining—they keep learning, keep humbling themselves, keep climbing.Progress in the Kingdom doesn’t always feel like progress. We serve. We give. We obey. And sometimes we wonder if it’s making a difference. But faithfulness is never wasted. It’s just that elevation happens quietly, like a seed growing beneath the surface.Romans 12:2 speaks to this when it calls us to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” The world says success is about what others can see. But we know the more profound truth: what God sees is far more critical. And when we renew our minds with His Word, we start seeing the spiral for what it is—evidence of movement, not repetition. You’re not chasing your tail. You’re building something. You’re not going in circles. You’re rising.Customer Success Code“What looks like a loop is often the spiral of obedience—and it’s raising you one step at a time.”Action Points:1—Zoom Out: Reflect on the last 6–12 months. What subtle signs reveal you’ve grown?2—Name Your Spiral: Identify an area of life where you feel stuck. Ask God to reframe it as a growth-in-motion experience.3—Encourage Someone Else: Send a word of encouragement to a friend who may feel like they’re spinning their wheels. Remind them they’re ascending.4—Recommit to the Process: Choose one habit you’ve been tempted to quit. Keep going—progress is still happening.5—Pray for Fresh Perspective: Ask God to help you recognize and celebrate the quiet gains in your life today This is a public episode.
