#MarkTheEvangelist(GospelOfMark) No.49- Kingdom Success
from GraceLife Sarasota · host Joe Davis
If you oversaw GraceLife, what would you change to make it more “successful”? Most of us have two answers: the spiritual one we know we should say—preach the Gospel, serve sacrificially—and the practical one shaped by modern church culture. Many churches chase success through marketing strategies, appealing to key demographics, building impressive facilities, and securing financial strength. That’s what success looks like from an earthly perspective. But in today’s passage, Jesus redefines success entirely. According to Him, true Kingdom success isn’t built on attraction, influence, or resources—it’s built on pervasive humility. It forces us to imagine what a church would look like if humility, not strategy, was the driving force behind everything we do. And once again, Jesus finds Himself teaching the disciples the same lesson they keep forgetting in His Kingdom, the last shall be first. Greatness isn’t achieved by climbing higher, but by bending lower, serving, surrendering, and embracing the upside down values of the Kingdom of God.
